Bought On Loyal3: KO, MAT, PEP, UL, WMT

I purchased the following stocks in my Loyal3 account on 9/4/2015:

  • 0.5177 shares of The Coca-Cola Company (KO) at $38.63 per share.  Dividend yield is 3.42%.
  • 0.4371 shares of Mattel, Inc. (MAT) at $22.88 per share.  Dividend yield is 6.64%.
  • 0.2202 shares of Pepsi, Inc. (PEP) at $90.83 per share.  Dividend yield is 3.09%.
  • 0.5116 shares of Unilever plc (UL) at $39.09 per share.  Dividend yield is 3.35%.
  • 0.3131 shares of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) at $63.88 per share.  Dividend yield is 3.07%.
These purchases add $3.24 to my taxable dividend income.

Now is such a great opportunity to pick up stocks and to average down on my cost basis.  All of these purchases have lowered my average cost per share, which I'm happy about.

  1. Like pretty much all these buys except MAT. I know that UL has been getting some attention recently now that it has dropped below $40. Seems to be the magic number for that stock. In general, I'm a fan of the consumer staples and you have made some great additions in that respect.

    1. Hi DivHut,

I've been back and forth about whether to add capital to MAT myself, even if it is only $10. But I decided to invest a small amount ($10) as a speculative play, since the yield is good, it is one of the largest toymakers, and also cost average down. I know many people have been questioning the sustainability of the dividend, which is a very valid point. I guess I figure I'd use $10 to test the waters and see how the company performs years from now.

I'm also a huge fan of consumer staples as well, and probably many other investors as well which would explain the premium that these companies trade for.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
